New Release

“Cottage Industry”

welcome

You have entered the King & Cos Zone. Prepare yourself for a unique experience. Our music blends many different elements, mixing Latin rhythms, jazz harmonies, Zappaesque guitar solos, and American folk music. You’ll find surprising chord changes paired with literate lyrics (and a little craziness).

What’s New

Our engineer/friend Larry Hinds, mixed our new album
“Cottage Industry”. Give it a listen, s

The Legend of King & Cos

King & Cos are Virginia King and John Costigan.  John’s original songs tell stories of budding twits with biting wit. His tunes are a synthesis of weird and widely varying styles. Early influences include Frank Zappa, The Beach Boys, The Kinks and The Yardbirds. John studied three years at UW-Parkside with Dr. Augie Wegner, which helped to refine his song writing. He played in the pit band in college, and was musical director for “Little Shop of Horrors”.

Virginia has been playing guitar and singing locally since she was a kid. Among her influences are Joni Mitchell, and Billie Holiday. She teaches several levels of folk guitar. Virg created videos for their YouTube channel and designed the album covers.

“King & Cos On the Job” their first CD is a live duo recording. On their just finished second album “Cottage Industry” Cos wrote, arranged, recorded and played all the instruments.
